How To Have The Perfect Red Pout

The Perfect Red Pout

The perfect lip to wear if you want to add a pop of colour to your face or stand out in the crowd, will have to be the all time classic red lip . You might want it matte or creamy or glossy according to your choice but to look good on a special day without a lot of effort red lips with winged liner is a look you can go for.
To get that gorgeous red pout like all time classic divas is not very difficult all you have to do is to follow certain steps and you will be ready with your hot red pout in a jiffy :)

Step 1- Choose the shade of red you want to wear.

You might want to match your red with your dress or some accessory. But if you want to have the perfect red according to your skin check the colour of veins on your body.
It can appear either

  • Blue- That means your skin colour is cool toned so go for reds which are blue based like true reds or pink based reds .They are the perfect for you.
  • Green- That means your skin colour is warm toned so go for reds which are warm toned like orange based reds or reds with a lil yellow undertone to them.
  • Purple- You are the luckiest of all since you are neutral tones so you can endorse in any reds all will be perfect with your skin tone :)
Personally I don't like following rules when it comes to makeup so i endorse in whatever shade I like because i believe even with the weirdest colour if you can make your makeup turn out lovely then you are a true Makeup Artist(which am not but if I ever get the chance I surely do aspire to be).

Step 2Prime your lips or moisturize it by applying a lip balm

You have to remember that if you are wearing a bold red pout it draws attention to your lips. So the most important is to see that it does not appear dry and flaky with dead skin coming off. Then it truly will have the adverse effect making you stand out because of dry untidy lips rather than a beautiful pout.

I love lip balms from Bodyshop,Nivea,Dr.Lipp Nipple Balm.
Here I will be using the lip balm from nivea in my most favourite flavour Strawberry

Apply a thick coat of Lip Balm and leave it for 2-3 minutes

Step 3- After the lips are moisturized now it is turn to scrub the lips

After 2-3 minutes of applying the balm take a baby toothbrush or a normal one with very soft bristles and very gently scrub the lips. Mind you the skin o the lips are extremely soft and sensitive compared to the rest of your body so the bristles should be very soft and the pressure should be feather light else lips get cut really easily and can bleed.

Step 4- Apply a lip base lighter than your lip colour

For the base I like to use a matte long wear lip liner which maybe white or creamish close to white to omit any sort of pigmentation from the lips. Tke any light colour lipliner and line the lips the completely fill then in

Step 5For making the lipcolour stay longer without fading over the base go with a red lipliner

After completing the base take any red lipliner of your choice and line the lips and fill them in. Peoplw who like wearing lipliners as a lone lip colour can leave it till here or to get that perfect pout carry out the following instructions.
(forgive the haziness of this picture. I guess my hand shook while taking it )

Step 6Now fill the lips using a lip brush(recommended for precision) with your favourite Red Lipstick

Take the lipstick you want to wear and completely fill your lips with the lip colour. You can use a brush or the bullte though a lip brush gives a more airbrushed and precise and uniform finish compared to just applying it directly from the bullet.

Step 7- Take a blotting paper and blot the excess lipstick

Grab a piece of blotting paper and blot the excess lipstick from the lips.

// People who want gloss red lips can apply gloss over the lip after blotting and go to Step 8 directly //

Step 8- Take some translucent powder or any loose powder if you want to mattify the lip

If you want a red matte pout after blotting take some loose powder and with a finger slightly dab it into your lips or Take a powder brush and swipe a very light layer of powder over your lips

Step 9- Conceal around the lips for  better and more defined looking lips

Whether you are going matte or glossy or cream finish after the lip is completed the most important but very rarely done step is to clean up around the lips. For this, take a concealer and go around the outline of your lips to clean up any spillage and for giving your lips a more defined and professional finish.

Step 10- Rock your Red pout and just have fun

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer (101 celestial)

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer
(101 Celestial)

Earlier this year while purchasing lip products i came across the Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers ( Show Off Lip Lacquers in USA) which consists of Lip lacquers of 8 different shades ranging from nudes, pinks, corals, oranges, red, and 1 dark red. I got the one in Nude Eclipse(600) apart from Celestial(101) and reviewed it which I will link it down below

First coming to the packaging just like the Nude Eclipse, Celestial also has a really nice packaging with a roll in roll out lid which keeps the product air tight and is completely spill proof making it suitable for travelling with it. The body is black on the upper part and it shades down to the colour of the product at the lower part which is good for storage so you know what colour family it falls into while storing. But the shade name is not mentioned anywhere around the body which is a little confusing for the shades which are almost alike. You get 5.5ml of product with the packaging which is quite a lot for the price.

The applicator is dope shaped with a little pouchy dent in the middle for picking up the product. This helps to not pick up excess products at a time. The pointy side of the applicator helps to reach the "oh so difficult to reach" edges and define the lip line as well.

The shade is a very wearable pretty everyday pink with very slight cool undertones perfect for office wear or day wear colour. The colour is such that it will go with most complexions from the palest of pales to the dusky beauties.

(UNDER NATURAL LIGHT)

(UNDER FLASH LIGHT)

The lip colour is creamy opaque with 1 or 2 swipes even for the most pigmented lip. It is moist and hydrating perfect for drying lips or to be worn in winter. It settles in a semi matter finish after 5 mins of application and is extremely light to wear on the lips.

PROS

  • You get a lot of product for the price
  • Super affordable
  • Not drying
  • The applicator is amazing
  • The range of colours available in the series.
  • Very pretty shade perfect for day wear or pairing up with a bold eye
  • Very opaque
  • Super light on the lips.

CONS

  • Has a tendency of settling into lines after a few hours.
  • Not transferproof
  • After applying the product there is a slight tingling feeling for a few mins before it becomes alright
  • Smell is too strong
  • Not all shades from this range are available in India

Ardell Professional Edgy 401 Black False Lashes

Ardell Professional Edgy 401 Black False Lashes

Hello,

Today I will be reviewing Ardell Professional False Lashes in the style Edgy under the name 401 Black. and under the style Glamour-Night.

Recently I had this false lashes phase where I could not stop buying false lashes and falling in love with them. I know people say false lashes are tough to apply and it can cause infections and hurt the eyes but trust me when I say this just follow the steps properly (which are super easy by the way), have patience and it is a piece of cake.

I had heard a lot about Ardell and it being quite budget friendly I decided to give it a try.
As you might figure out already from the name it is dramatic at the outer edges and the inner edges and just enough to give that oomph factor to the natural lashes. It is perfect for people who want to open up and widen their eyes with a dramatic yet not fake effect.

First let’s come to the packaging which is really tough durable plastic with clip fit in system so you can keep the lashes after using and store them for a long time .The instructions of how to apply are written clearly behind which is really helpful and makes it super-duper easy to use. The area where the lashes are kept in the case has a slight layer of glue which holds the lashes to the convex shape and maintains the shape of the lashes over a long period. For the lock system of the hard cover it is super travel friendly also.

The best part of these lashes are its bands. the bands are fully is transparent so you can wear it without liner and it looks fully natural eye with gorgeous lashes.

The lashes are made from sterilized, 100% human hair. So they cause no irritation to the eyes. It can turn any eye look to totally glamorous and dramatic without making it seem fake and repulsive
.

The lashes are priced at INR 430 but online you get a lot of offers going on most of the time so you can get them a lot cheaper. Even at their MRP the lashes are super decent because of their natural appearance and can last a long time if handled with care.

  PROS
  • ©    Very easy to use and can be reused innumerable times according to handling
  • ©     Brilliantly made tough case which makes it easy to store after wearing it
  • ©    It is sterilized human hair so the appearance is very natural and causes no irritation
  • ©    The lash band is transparent so can be worn alone without liner and makes it look natural eye with fuller lashes.

   CONS
  •        Can shed easily if not handled with care
  •      If glue gets stuck on the individual hairs of the lashes it is very difficult to remove them without shedding

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick Red My Lips, 202

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick, Red My Lips, 202

Maybelline had launched a really affodable range "Color Show" consisting of a variety of lip colours and nail colours. The Lip range consists of 32 moisturizing lip colours with  a great variety of colours from Browns to Reds to Pinks to Mauves. I have reviewed the Fuschia Fantasy shade already from this range. I will link the review to Fuschia Fantasy below. Now in this article we will be talking abt their cool toned red shade,"Red My Lips".

First the packaging is quite ordinary like any other normal lipstick with a black body and a black cap ad the genre of the shade rimmed in the middle. For example, Fuschia Fantasy had a pink rim while Red My lips has a red rim as you can see from the picture. The upper part of the body under the cap is silver or steele however one may put it. you get 3.9gm of the product which is a terrific deal considering how inexpensive the Lip Colour is. It is creamy but still the stick is hard enough to hold onto itself and not melt in the heat. You can travel perfectly with it as the cap sets perfectly and it does not have any spilling or other tendencies.

(WITHOUT FLASH)

(WITH FLASH)

Now coming to the shade it is an insanely pigmented cool toned red which give opaque coverage to very pigmented lips also in a single swipe. It will suit all skin tones from white skin to fair or wheatish skin to the lovely duskies. It is very creamy in texture and moisturising but unlink the Fuschia Fantasy this shade does not bleed. Also it tranfers a lot less compared to Fuschia Fantasy. This is hands down one of the best coverage drugstore lipsticks i have come across. It gives a creme finish perfect for the winter time and party season. It does transfer a bit while eating and drinking but leaves a lovely red stain and fades uniformly on the lips . It last for about 5-6 hours perfectly and the stain has to be removed using makeup removers or baby oils to remove it completely from the lips.

(WITH FLASH)

(WITHOUT FLASH)

You can also slightly dab it and blot it with a blotting paper and set with translucent powder and last an entire day with a lovely stain or wear it to work without making it too bold. All in all I am in love with the payoff the lipstick gives for its price.

PROS

  • Amazing opaque coverage in just a single swipe
  • A very cool toned red for all skin tones
  • Very moisturizing
  • Does not bleed
CONS
  • It is not transfer-proof
  • The stain is a lil hard to completely remove from the lips
  • Availability outside India
PRICE

It retails in shops for 300 INR or 4.53 USD or 3 GBP
But it is available at times online for less

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick, Fuschia Fantasy

Maybelline Color Show Lipstick, Fuschia Fantasy

Maybelline  has a series of affordable Lipsticks which fall under the Color Show range. It has a wide variety of shade selection with 32 Lip Colours covering from Browns to Reds to Pinks to Mauves.

Fuschia Fantasy is I guess one of the most raved about Lip shade of this range. As the name suggests it is a blue toned dark pink which is insanely pigmented and will give an opaque coverage to even hugely pigmented lips. Though personally I am not a fan of fuschias or blue based pinks still as you might make out i used up this one quite a bit.

You get 3.9 gm of the product which is seriously worth the buy considering how inexpensive these are.

Packaging is normal like that of any other Lipstick with the genre or colour rim in the middle.
For e.g. the fuschia one has a pink rim.
I have travelled with it in hot humid summer with temperature outside almost 42 degrees and the lipstick did not seem to melt at all which I feared so that was a relief.

(WITH FLASH)

(WITHOUT FLASH)

It has thae pop of colour needed to make you look fresh and ready to roll. This can be a great spring time colour with a single layer for people who love fuschias and barbie pinks. You can also layer the product up to an insanely dark plummy winter colour based upon your choice.

The Lip Swatches are :

The lipcolour tends to bleed a bit so I recommend using a lip liner or lip primer and using it a little carefully around the edges of the lips .
In the second picture without flash I layered up the lip colour 2-3 times to bring out the dark plummy effect of the autumns. Though the best way to wear these according to me is dab it matte with a blotting paper and set it with translucent powder and wear it as a light stain.

It is not tranferproof and transfers while eating or drinking but leaves a lovely uniform stain on the lips whivh last for a long 5-6 hours easily.

The stick is very creamy and I recommend that you store it in a cool place (not refridgerator) and not near the kitchen or stove as it can melt.

PROS
  • Insanely opaque pigmentation
  • Can be layered up to have really dark plummy lips or worn as a pop of spring colour
  • Very creamy and moisturizing in texture
  • Leaves a uniform stain
  • Lasts 5-6 hours

CONS
  • Tends to bleed
  • Transfers a lot
  • For the too creamy texture of the stick lots of product tend to get used up if applied directly holding the stick.
  • Availability outside India

PRICE

Rs. 300 or $5.00 or 3 gbp is the MRP

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer Nude Eclipse Review

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer Nude Eclipse

Earlier this year while purchasing lip products i came across the Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers ( Show Off Lip Lacquers in USA) which consists of Lip lacquers of 8 different shades ranging from nudes, pinks, corals, oranges, red, and 1 dark red. I wanted to get Across the Universe which is a darkish red shade but sadly at that time it wasn't available in India. So I got two shades Celestial(101) and Nude Eclipse(600). I have also reviewed Celestial and I will link it down below :)

First coming to the packaging it is a really unique packaging with a super roll in roll out lid which keeps the product air tight and is completely spill proof so thumps up for travelling with it. The body is black on the upper part and it shades down to the colour of the product at the lower part which is good for storage so you know what colour family it falls into while storing. But the shade name is not written anywhere around the body which is a drawback since many shades are quite almost alike so the packaging might seem confusing. 5.5ml of product is recieved with the packaging which is quite a lot for the price if you ask me.

The applicator is dope shaped with a lil pouchy dent in the middle for picking up the product. This is really useful for applying. The pointy side of the applicator helps to reach the edges and define the lip line well.

Now coming to the shade as the name suggests Nude Eclipse should be a true nude but sadly it is not for most complexions. It might work as a nude for the palest of pale white complexions but even if you the slightest most tinge of colour in you it will wash you out completely.

On the hand swatches it comes out creamy opaque moist and nice perfect for winters to keep the lips hydrated. But sadly it is not so on the lips.

As you can see the colour is almost like my skintone and if I apply another coat it becomes even lighter and washes me out terribly making me look ill . For lips like mine which has the slightest amount of pigmentation this shade will not work at all for them as it is not at all opaque. The consistency of the lacquer is creamy and thick but too thick to be layered up for better coverage. It is not transferproof and tends to settle in the fine lines badly. However it does not dry out the lips and keeps it moist and supple. If you are a bold person and love having fun with colours lighter than your skin then this colour is perfect for you.

I use this as a base for other lipsticks as it neutralizes any sort of pigmentation for the lips. If you want to use this as a base take a very tiny amount of the product with the applicator and dot it on the lips then smoothen it out with your finger. After letting it settle for a min or 2 take a blotting paper and very lightly blot your lips for the excess products to come out .Over the ready base use the lipstick of your choice.

PROS
  • You get a lot of product for the price
  • Super affordable
  • Not drying
  • The applicator is amazing
  • The range of colours available in the series
CONS
  • Shade is too light for most skintones
  • Settles into lines
  • Not transferproof
  • Not opaque and neither can be layered up a lot
  • After applying the product there is a slight tingling feeling for a few mins before it becomes alright
  • Smell is too strong
  • Not all shades are available in India

Makeup Revolution London Euphoria Eyeshadow & Contour (Bronzed) Review

Makeup Revolution London Euphoria Eyeshadow & Contour (Bronzed)

Hello Everyone,

Last Week I got this Makeup Revolution London Euphoria Palette in the shade Bronzed. The Palette comes in two shades with the lighter one called Bare and the darker one called Bronzed . It consists of 3 glimmer eyeshadow highlights, 3 glitter eyeshadows, 1 warm toned bronzer, 1 highlighter and 1 shimmer blush.

First let's talk about the packaging. The packging is sleek and sturdy so it's a boon pallete to take for trips or if you travel a lot for work Makeup Revolution London are just the palettes for you. It comes in a box  like most other palettes which has the name, the shade and the contents written on it.

On the back of the palette the shades are given but the shades have no names soo that is a drawback. The shades are a little difficult to refer to.

But one of the best features of the palette is the huge mirror the comes with it. It is undoubtable one of the best quality palette mirrrors I have come across. It is huge, super clear and amazing for doing makeup. There are times when I prefer working with this palette mirror than my own makeup table mirrors.

( I kept the mirror facing my window and by the reflection you can make out how clear it is )

The last part of the packaging is the sponge-tip applicator that comes with the palette and as usual all sponge-tip applicators are useless to work with.

Now coming to the shades, the eyeshadows consist of 3 highlight shades and 3 dark glittery shades.

(The 3 Shimmer Highlight Eyshadow Shades)
These light shades are perfect for a daytime or a slight highlighted eyes for going to the office. Nothing very dramatic but  gives fresh and subtly luminous look when applied alone as one colour.

(The 3 Darker Glitter Eyeshadow Shades)
These are mainly night time colours with more glitter more bolder look. Good for parties or dates or any night event.

The swatches are given below :) :

Shade 1: This is the lightest creamish white highlight eyeshadow shade with gold undertones

Shade 2: This is a shimmery highlight shade with slight pink undertones.

Shade 3: The third highlight eyeshadow is beige in colour with silver shimmer in it

Shade 4: The fourth shade of the palette looks like a dark olive green colour when you see it in the palette with golden glitter. But when you apply it on your eyes its comes more of a dark golden than green with slight green tint undertone. So basically you can refer to this colour as dark gold with a very slight greenish tint.

Shade 5: This colour is a dark purple shimmery colour with brown undertones. It is not superdark but it is a unique shade and can be worked with.

Shade 6: The most pigmented colour of the entire eyeshadow series of this palette. It is a deep golden colour with slight copper undertone and it screams pigmentation.

Now coming to the face part of the kit , the palette has 1 matte contour powder which is a little on the warm tone side . Now personally I am on the fairish side of skin tones so if you are on the fairer side or white skinned then this is the perfect contour powder for you. Mind you it won't give you super dramatic heavy contoured look like that of the Kardashians but it will give you a very very natural lightly contoured look. I will not recommend this for wheatish tones or dusky beauties as it might not show up.

The highlight is one of the most amazing highlights I have come across in drugstores. Its creamy satin like in texture and immensly pigmented. The creamy champagne highlight of this palette is just the thing for achieving the natural dewy highlighted look. But do remember for such a pigmented highlight less is more :)

The blush is a pink blush with golden shimmer in it . It acts both as a blush and a subtle highlighted to the cheeks . It is one of the most natural looking blush on the skin I have come across.

PROS
  • The Highlighter is amazing
  • The contour gives a very natural effect
  • The blush gives a natural glow and the blush works as both the highlight and blush
  • Great palette for travelling or day time look
  • An amazing Mirror
  • Very Affordable

CONS

  • Eyeshadow pigmentation could have been a lil more
  • Specially lighter eyeshadow shades need layering up
  • The applicator is a sponge tip applicator which is useless
  • Not easily available in India
  • For people who want dramatic contoured looks this contour shade will not suffice.

PRICE

INDIA: I got this palette for around INR 1350
This palette is available at:

Link2:: Nykaa.com

USA:  It is around $9.21 in USA

Out of 5:
