Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer Nude Eclipse Review

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer Nude Eclipse

Earlier this year while purchasing lip products i came across the Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquers ( Show Off Lip Lacquers in USA) which consists of Lip lacquers of 8 different shades ranging from nudes, pinks, corals, oranges, red, and 1 dark red. I wanted to get Across the Universe which is a darkish red shade but sadly at that time it wasn't available in India. So I got two shades Celestial(101) and Nude Eclipse(600). I have also reviewed Celestial and I will link it down below :)

First coming to the packaging it is a really unique packaging with a super roll in roll out lid which keeps the product air tight and is completely spill proof so thumps up for travelling with it. The body is black on the upper part and it shades down to the colour of the product at the lower part which is good for storage so you know what colour family it falls into while storing. But the shade name is not written anywhere around the body which is a drawback since many shades are quite almost alike so the packaging might seem confusing. 5.5ml of product is recieved with the packaging which is quite a lot for the price if you ask me.

The applicator is dope shaped with a lil pouchy dent in the middle for picking up the product. This is really useful for applying. The pointy side of the applicator helps to reach the edges and define the lip line well.

Now coming to the shade as the name suggests Nude Eclipse should be a true nude but sadly it is not for most complexions. It might work as a nude for the palest of pale white complexions but even if you the slightest most tinge of colour in you it will wash you out completely.

On the hand swatches it comes out creamy opaque moist and nice perfect for winters to keep the lips hydrated. But sadly it is not so on the lips.

As you can see the colour is almost like my skintone and if I apply another coat it becomes even lighter and washes me out terribly making me look ill . For lips like mine which has the slightest amount of pigmentation this shade will not work at all for them as it is not at all opaque. The consistency of the lacquer is creamy and thick but too thick to be layered up for better coverage. It is not transferproof and tends to settle in the fine lines badly. However it does not dry out the lips and keeps it moist and supple. If you are a bold person and love having fun with colours lighter than your skin then this colour is perfect for you.

I use this as a base for other lipsticks as it neutralizes any sort of pigmentation for the lips. If you want to use this as a base take a very tiny amount of the product with the applicator and dot it on the lips then smoothen it out with your finger. After letting it settle for a min or 2 take a blotting paper and very lightly blot your lips for the excess products to come out .Over the ready base use the lipstick of your choice.

PROS
  • You get a lot of product for the price
  • Super affordable
  • Not drying
  • The applicator is amazing
  • The range of colours available in the series
CONS
  • Shade is too light for most skintones
  • Settles into lines
  • Not transferproof
  • Not opaque and neither can be layered up a lot
  • After applying the product there is a slight tingling feeling for a few mins before it becomes alright
  • Smell is too strong
  • Not all shades are available in India

Makeup Revolution London Euphoria Eyeshadow & Contour (Bronzed) Review

Makeup Revolution London Euphoria Eyeshadow & Contour (Bronzed)

Hello Everyone,

Last Week I got this Makeup Revolution London Euphoria Palette in the shade Bronzed. The Palette comes in two shades with the lighter one called Bare and the darker one called Bronzed . It consists of 3 glimmer eyeshadow highlights, 3 glitter eyeshadows, 1 warm toned bronzer, 1 highlighter and 1 shimmer blush.

First let's talk about the packaging. The packging is sleek and sturdy so it's a boon pallete to take for trips or if you travel a lot for work Makeup Revolution London are just the palettes for you. It comes in a box  like most other palettes which has the name, the shade and the contents written on it.

On the back of the palette the shades are given but the shades have no names soo that is a drawback. The shades are a little difficult to refer to.

But one of the best features of the palette is the huge mirror the comes with it. It is undoubtable one of the best quality palette mirrrors I have come across. It is huge, super clear and amazing for doing makeup. There are times when I prefer working with this palette mirror than my own makeup table mirrors.

( I kept the mirror facing my window and by the reflection you can make out how clear it is )

The last part of the packaging is the sponge-tip applicator that comes with the palette and as usual all sponge-tip applicators are useless to work with.

Now coming to the shades, the eyeshadows consist of 3 highlight shades and 3 dark glittery shades.

(The 3 Shimmer Highlight Eyshadow Shades)
These light shades are perfect for a daytime or a slight highlighted eyes for going to the office. Nothing very dramatic but  gives fresh and subtly luminous look when applied alone as one colour.

(The 3 Darker Glitter Eyeshadow Shades)
These are mainly night time colours with more glitter more bolder look. Good for parties or dates or any night event.

The swatches are given below :) :

Shade 1: This is the lightest creamish white highlight eyeshadow shade with gold undertones

Shade 2: This is a shimmery highlight shade with slight pink undertones.

Shade 3: The third highlight eyeshadow is beige in colour with silver shimmer in it

Shade 4: The fourth shade of the palette looks like a dark olive green colour when you see it in the palette with golden glitter. But when you apply it on your eyes its comes more of a dark golden than green with slight green tint undertone. So basically you can refer to this colour as dark gold with a very slight greenish tint.

Shade 5: This colour is a dark purple shimmery colour with brown undertones. It is not superdark but it is a unique shade and can be worked with.

Shade 6: The most pigmented colour of the entire eyeshadow series of this palette. It is a deep golden colour with slight copper undertone and it screams pigmentation.

Now coming to the face part of the kit , the palette has 1 matte contour powder which is a little on the warm tone side . Now personally I am on the fairish side of skin tones so if you are on the fairer side or white skinned then this is the perfect contour powder for you. Mind you it won't give you super dramatic heavy contoured look like that of the Kardashians but it will give you a very very natural lightly contoured look. I will not recommend this for wheatish tones or dusky beauties as it might not show up.

The highlight is one of the most amazing highlights I have come across in drugstores. Its creamy satin like in texture and immensly pigmented. The creamy champagne highlight of this palette is just the thing for achieving the natural dewy highlighted look. But do remember for such a pigmented highlight less is more :)

The blush is a pink blush with golden shimmer in it . It acts both as a blush and a subtle highlighted to the cheeks . It is one of the most natural looking blush on the skin I have come across.

PROS
  • The Highlighter is amazing
  • The contour gives a very natural effect
  • The blush gives a natural glow and the blush works as both the highlight and blush
  • Great palette for travelling or day time look
  • An amazing Mirror
  • Very Affordable

CONS

  • Eyeshadow pigmentation could have been a lil more
  • Specially lighter eyeshadow shades need layering up
  • The applicator is a sponge tip applicator which is useless
  • Not easily available in India
  • For people who want dramatic contoured looks this contour shade will not suffice.

Maybelline NewYork The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette Review

New Maybelline NewYork The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

Hello Everyone,

Merry Christmas to all and with holidays going on and endless parties we are all prepping up for amazing makeup looks with different eye looks. To help us in this affair Maybelline New York launched their new eyeshadow palette series consisting on four palettes till date,The Nudes,The Smokes, The Blushed Nudes,The Brights.

Each palette consists of 12 shades which are a mixture of mattes and shimmers.

In this article we will be talking about their first launched palette of the series, The Nudes.

When I got to know about this amazing launch I could not wait to get my hands on them . First time Maybelline has launched something like this with12 shades and it is amazing.
First and foremost the packaging. It is sleek sturdy and for a person who is unorganized and clumsy like I am dropping things, shoving all makeup in a pile in a corner makeup kits usually get destroyed pretty soon . But not this one, I have dropped it quite a few times (by accident of course) and it was intact without a scratch . The only bad thing about this is the lack of a mirror. I love how the Makeup Revolution London Palettes come with a huge clear mirror attached (some, not all) and I was genuinely missing a mirror in this one.

If you are a person who travels a lot the kit is sturdy enough to survive any journey but the downside is you need to carry a mirror with it . Then again we all carry compacts and all which come with mirrors already so it shouldn't be that much of a problem. :)

The backside of the pallete contains it's unique serial code like I have in "50M61M" along a very useful how to use shade guide. The colours of the pallete are arranged in such a way that if you consider every quad or every trio or every duo they are enough to give you an amazing look and how will you position the colours on your eye that is also mentioned. So it is a big big thumps up if you are a beginner or getting started with makeup and eyeshadows :)

Now, coming to the pigmentation I can swear that you won't regret buying a this at all. It is amazingly pigmented be it shimmery or matte and if you want a extra bold pop of colour with this the trick is spray Makeup Fining Spray ( or Rosewater in a spray bottle also works fine ) before picking up the product with your brush.

The swatches are below :)

(With Yellow Flash)

4- A matter brown shade. An amazing crease colour or for darkening the outer corner for more definition

(With Yellow Flash)

(Without Flash)

5- This is a very creamish shimmer highligh but it mixes with my complexion fully so it did not come that bright on my skin

8- Another immensely pigmented brown shimmer shade

(With Yellow Flash)

(Without Flash)

9- A greyish taupe matte shade which is really rare to come across in drugstore palletes.

10- A dark greyish brown shade. Amazing for a brown smokey eye look.

11- A white champagne highlight shade.

12- This is my most favourite. A matte charcoal black shade. It can be worn as a light shadow black shade or layered to a intense matte black .

PROS
  • Very strudy sleek packaging
  • 12 shades for a variety of eye looks
  • Guidance of how different looks can be achiever is given at the back of the palette
  • Mixture of mattes and shimmer in the same palette
  • Amazing highlights and a charcoal matte black shade present which is difficult to come across in palettes
  • The best part is that this palette is super affordable and fully worth it's price.
CONS
  • A mirror missing in the packaging which would have been helpful
  • Like most other eyeshadow palettes this one also comes with a small applicator, though unique and percil shaped still not at all useful to work with
